A MAN who lead police on two high-speed chases in 2015 pleaded guilty to nine charges related to driving, theft and drug offences on Friday.
Matthew Leigh Price appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court via videolink from Casuarina Prison.
Mr Price was accused by police of dangerous driving, evading police and driving without a license due to fines suspension on June 29 and August 29 2015.
On the June 29 occasion, Mr Price was accused of driving at high speed away from police on Park Road in Mandurah before leading a pursuit down Allnut Street and through the centre of town.
During the chase, Mr Price allegedly drove through several red lights and traffic islands, as well as close to pedestrian walkways.
On August 29, Mr Price was allegedly approached by police with lights and sirens before again attempting to evade them on Bluestone Parkway, Secret Harbour.
Mr Price faced numerous other charges on Friday, including the attempted theft of a two-way radio from a southern suburbs cinema complex.
Prosecution said cinema employees were able to identify Mr Price as he had used his membership card to purchase tickets, and that when he was questioned by police over the incident he said “he thought it would be funny”.
Mr Price was also accused of stealing a red Tapout shirt from Big W Mandurah Forum, and in a police interview state that he could not be “bothered” waiting in line to purchase the shirt.
The defendant also faced a charge of drug paraphernalia possession.
Mr Price will appear in court at a later date for sentencing.
