SINGLETON-IRWINIANS’ bowler Ian Bowes took out the Peel Cricket Associations Cricketer of the Year award last week.
After winning last year’s grand final Singleton-Irwinians didn’t have much to celebrate this year after missing the finals in seventh however the efforts of Bowes didn’t go unnoticed.
Bowes picked up 25 wickets from 12 A-grade games at an average of 11.7 and an economy of three.
He also featured in Singleton-Irwinians Twenty20 side picking up another two wickets at an economy of 6.8.
He had standout games against Waroona in round three where he collected 4/17 from 10 overs, just one of three times he took four wickets in a game.
He also had the impressive figures of 3/9 from nine overs against Baldivis in round eight.
Bowes also took 11 catches in first grade.
Andrew Peckover topped batting aggregate with 418 runs while Ben Drummond had the top average with 392 runs at 56.
Top bowling aggregate award went to Matthew Jenkinson with 28 wickets while he also had the best average.
Most fielding dismissals went to Grant Pilling with 22.
The Peel Cricket Association team of the Year was also announced on the night with Singleton-Irwinians and Mandurah leading the pack with three selections each.
