The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre have announced the first art and lifestyle market for 2016 A Swell Day Out, on Sunday, February 21 at 10am-3pm celebrating WA’s creative brilliance and talent, giving local and WA artists and designers an opportunity to display their work and wares in their fabulous glassed foyers overlooking the Mandjar Bay.
Not only can attendees mingle and chat and find beautiful and unique gallery quality products, they can also sample delicious treats, organic produce and homemade fare.
The markets are an ideal way to find a unique gift, or simply stroll through and enjoy the atmosphere with fabulous live music as you browse.
Groovy acoustic duo Minky G and Rosco will be performing and making the weekend more colourful at A Swell Day Out.
They've been spreading their catchy music across the globe: London, Oxford, Sydney, Melbourne and right around their home state of Western Australia.
They’re experienced musicians, combining infectious melodies with energetic vocals to create a unique sound, and they have a lot of fun along the way.
Between them, they’ve jammed with Beyoncé's band (and taken them surfing), supported UK artist Passenger, James Morrison, John Butler, and once accidentally supported Gyroscope... as well as a cheeky gig at the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations in England in 2012.
The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre has attracted many wonderful artists and designers to join them including live art (all day) from Estuary Artists, returning local artists Lulu Tissu (textiles), Carol Nicolson (ceramics), Deborah Zibah (painter), Belinda Jones (painter and illustrator), Beate Kratt (photographer), Miriam (silk designer), and Goli-Mandart (painter), plus newcomers Elli Moody, Linzi Carter, Vibe Studio and Folios and Fibre accompanied by gorgeous food from the Stage Door, Food & Co and Geizelling to name but a few.
There will also be opportunities to participate in workshops. Mandurah-based encaustic artist Helen Coleman will be offering limited spaces to try her methods of combining collage with molten wax, and Teesh from Little Petals Floral Design will show you how to transform locally grown blooms into a wearable floral art piece. All materials are supplied and you will get to leave with your own handmade creation.
The kids can also get creative with The Art of Resilience, showing the kids how to Act-Belong-Commit with a creative workshop and special recipe with the ingredients of gratitude, stand up, energy and calm.
If they are hungry after all that they can decorate their own delicious cupcakes with Nom Nom Cupcakes.
Spots for the adult workshops are strictly limited and need to be booked in advance by calling MPAC on 9550 3900 to secure your place.
Presented by the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and the City of Mandurah the Act Belong Commit, A Swell Day Out is for everyone young and old to join in and participate and relax and enjoy being a part of an exciting new art and lifestyle market.
