THE ORGANISERS of Southbound, the weekend music festival happening in Busselton this weekend, have confirmed the alternate routes required for those driving south in the wake of the Waroona bushfire.
In a statement released through the event's PR company, the organisers said they had been working with police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services to develop an alternate route to Busselton from Perth and areas north of Waroona.
"We’ve been informed from West Australian Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services that the South West and Forrest Highway is more than likely going to be closed tomorrow," the statement said.
"As a result, alternative access is required to get to the event.
"We are working with the WA Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services moving forward and will provide more updates after we have spoken to them in more details later today. In the meantime, this is the alternate access plan. "
As it stands on Thursday, drivers would have to detour via Collie/Darken and Boddington to get to Bunbury and Busselton.
