11.30pm - Waroona residents have been urged to leave their properties as an out of control bushfire heads their way.
Those living in the area bounded by Somers Road, Mayfield Road, Hayes Road and Nanga Brook Road, including the Waroona and Hamel townsites are directly under threat.
An emergency warning also remains in place for people bounded by Willowdale Road, Johnston Road, Somers Road, Coronation Road and Nanga Brook Road including Waroona townsite in the Shire of Waroona.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) reports a threat to lives and property and warns those nearby they are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
The bushfire, which started about 7am on Wednesday in the Lane Poole Reserve, is moving fast in a westerly direction.
It is described as unpredictable.
Those unable to leave, or who are staying to actively defend the blaze are reminded not to rely on mains water.
Residents have been told to watch out for spot fires.
It is not safe for anyone not already in the area to return.
It is now too late for those east of South Western Highway to leave.
South Western Highway has been closed in both directions at Waroona between Coronation Road and Uduc Road..
Placid Ark Roadhouse has opened as a result of the emergency. Fuel can be obtained there if needed.
An evacuation centre has been set up at Murray Leisure Centre - 16 Camp Road, Pinjarra.
