UPDATE:
DFES has issued an ALL CLEAR advice for people in the eastern part of Lake Clifton in the Shire of Waroona.
- The bushfire that was burning on the southern side of Old Bunbury Road has been extinguished.
- Firefighters have worked tirelessly together with other agencies since the fire was reported.
- The danger has passed but you need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.
DFES has advised motorist to drive slowly and with caution due emergency services personnel working in the area.
PREVIOUSLY:
A bushfire Watch and Act alert has been issued for Lake Clifton with a possible threat to lives and homes as fire approaches.
The alert includes Southern Estuary Road and Forrest Highway in the eastern part of Lake Clifton in the Waroona Shire.
Residents have been warned to prepare to leave their property or actively defend it.
The fire was reported at 11.15am on Sunday and is understood to have been started by lightning.
It is moving slowly in a north-easterly direction with a front 500 metres across.
Flames are reportedly 1.5 metres high, with the blaze out of control and unpredictable.
Old Bunbury Road from Southern Estuary Road to Old Coast Road is closed while more than 50 firefighters battle the blaze.
Air support is actively protecting homes and crews.
Those needing to leave the area are asked to do so via Southern Estuary Road in a northerly direction.
Anyone not at home is advised not to try to return at this point.
The next alert will be issued shortly after 7pm.
