The awards recognise excellence within the tourism industry and highlight the experiences Western Australia has to offer.
Tourism Council WA chief Evan Hall said the level of participation in the awards and the high standard of entrants reflected the passion and professionalism of tourism operators.
“The entries for this year’s awards have been of an extremely high standard, resulting in a highly competitive awards process, according to the judging panel,” Mr Hall said.
For the first time, this year’s awards included the excellence in Chinese tourism category to reward businesses with a commitment to extending high quality and culturally appropriate service to the Chinese market.
“With a fast-growing middle class which is eager to travel, the Chinese market is extremely important to Western Australia – and with that comes the importance of being able to appropriately service Chinese visitors,” Mr Hall said.
Perth Airport manager of corporate affairs Fiona Lander said they were pleased to continue their role as naming rights sponsor of the awards in recognition of the diversity and vibrancy of tourism in WA.
“As the gateway to Western Australia, Perth Airport plays a critical role in supporting tourism in the State, and our continual support of the WA Tourism Awards is just one example of how we fulfil this role,” Ms Lander said.
Finalists will be promoted through a print and digital marketing campaign.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on November 14 at Crown Perth.
The gold medallists will go on to represent Western Australia at the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
