WORKSAFE has warned the public about a Pinjarra training and accreditation company who have lost their ability to issue high risk work license training.
The company, A & J Training and Assessing, originally had license to issue statements of attainment to trainees so they could apply for a government-mandated high risk work license.
However, a dispute in the relationship between the company and another which allegedly provided the accreditation has led to A & J losing their ability to provide the statements.
“The company in question had an agreement with another legitimate training company,” WorkSafe director of business services Robyn Parker said.
“That relationship has since soured, and the agreement between the two companies was terminated.
“The company, A & J Training and Assessing, now do not have the proper qualifications to permit workers a high-risk license, even though they have been training people for them.”
Ms Parker said Worksafe had received a number of calls from people who had undertaken the training course, only to find that they had not received the permit under Federal law.
“A & J can deliver the training, but they are not a registered training organisation and so cannot themselves issue valid statements of attainment,” she said.
“Unfortunately, those people who have undertaken the training have found that, without the proper documents, they haven’t been able to apply for their accreditation.”
“So in those cases, they’ve found that they have to enrol in another course and pay again.”
Ms Parker said the workers had been directed to the magistrates court to settle their disputes with the company.
Worksafe is also currently investigating the company.
