A WAROONA couple who stole thousands of dollars worth of jewellery during burglaries last month were sentenced in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday.
Darrel Lee Goucher, 21, and Tammy Pamela Styles, 22, pleaded guilty to a string of offences in relation to the burglaries which happened in Herron on June 6 and 29.
The court heard the pair stole the jewellery, which included valuable heirlooms, power tools and a television before hocking many of the items at Cash Converters in Armadale.
Counsel for Goucher and Styles said his clients had been a couple for four months and had no criminal history.
The pair had no drug or alcohol issues, and had turned to crime after Goucher lost his job.
For the burglaries, theft, fraud and possession of a controlled weapon Goucher was fined $2600 plus court costs.
For her part in the offences Styles was fined $1500.
Both were ordered to pay restitution to Cash Converters of more than $1000.
