WOMEN staying at Pat Thomas House will be able to cook up a storm with a new oven donated by the Inner Wheel Club of Mandurah.
The oven is part of the club’s year of support for the women’s refuge, and they have also donated $1600 worth of cleaning products.
The products were made up into packs that women could take with them when they left the refuge.
Pat Thomas House manager Kim Stevens said the group planned to eventually renovate the entire kitchen.
“We’re so blessed to have the community’s support,” she said.
“We just don’t have the funds for extra things like this.”
The building houses up to six families at a time who are escaping from domestic violence situations.
Ms Stevens said they were currently looking for donations of new pots, pans, plates, microwaves and cutlery.
Inner Wheel Mandurah selected Pat Thomas House as the organisation they would support with donations this year.
They have previously donated skincare packs to cancer patients at Peel Health Campus and donated a new bench for the Mandurah foreshore.
President Marjorie Atkinson said the club welcomes new members who want to help out in the community.
“We’re also about making friends and helping others,” Ms Atkinson said.
