CHANNING Tatum’s steamy film Magic Mike had women flocking to cinemas in 2012.
With the second instalment a few months away, one Mandurah man is getting local ladies prepared for its release.
Simeon Ballantyne is one of the state’s top exotic dancers and features in TopShelf Entertainment’s Magic Mike XXL-inspired show.
“We’ve made our own version from the new movie,” Ballantyne said.
“It’s a lot bigger than the one which we did for the first movie; more impressive and technical.
“It should be a lot of fun.”
The Magic Mike – Back to the Grind main routine was taken from the sequel’s trailer, with choreography inspired by its metal workshop scene.
It will be one of the features at this year’s Perth Sexpo on June 4-7, before touring the state.
Magic Mike – Back to the Grind is set to hit Mandurah’s Players Bar stage on July 3 where Ballantyne will be front and centre for numerous routines.
“Basically how the choreographer envisioned the scene to be from the trailer, is how it’s going to be on stage,” Ballantyne said.
“So we all have metal grinders on stage and we take it from there.
“I’m a little nervous about performing at Sexpo but at the same time, in this industry you get over your nerves pretty quickly.
“Doing this, you get an adrenaline rush and you just get into the zone.”
For Ballantyne Magic Mike is more than just a way to pay the bills; it’s a step towards bigger things.
Just a year in the industry and he’s already been scouted by a modelling agency and has done paid underwear shoots.
“I’m hoping for bigger things and I just take whatever opportunity comes my way,” Ballantyne said.
“Who knows where it will take me?
“Maybe it will take me to further modelling or maybe into acting; who knows?
“My big thing is that if you want something bad enough, you do something about it.
“I try to visualise everything and you need to take every chance which comes your way.”
