TWO Mandurah Scouts are headed for Manila to work with children who live on the street.
Maddison Boothey and Keeva Anderson were selected for the trip with just 23 other scouts from Western Australia.
The pair will depart on May 15 and will take donations of clothing, two-person tents and toiletries with them.
Scouts WA branch leader Bevan Anderson said Maddison and Keeva held an international-themed night last week to teach their fellow scouts about the trip.
“It is part of the Ticket to Life program, where they sponsor kids living on the street to do Scouts and help them improve their life skills,” he said. “Maddison and Keeva went to the Philippines last year and it was a very eye-opening trip.”
The group also helped organise for a group of children from the Philippines to visit Australia.
“Bringing the children here was hard because they don’t have paperwork but the government over there was very helpful,” Mr Anderson said.
Ticket to Life aims to empower children to become part of their local community, to connect to other young people and create a brighter future.
People in the community can donate to the cause through donations of clothing, two-person tents or toiletries.
