COMMONWEALTH Games gold medalist and former Mandurah resident Kim Mickle talked about injury rehabilitation and prevention at the 2015 Peel Sports Forum at Bendigo Bank Stadium on February 20.
The Western Australian Institute of Sport Athlete of the Year said she had had her fair share of injuries during her career.
“I’ve had my elbow operated on twice, six stress fractures in my back, a broken rib and turf toe,” she said.
“You’ve just got to get the rehab done properly and listen to your body.”
“It’s worth it when you get back.”
Mickle said niggly injuries were sometimes the worst because an athlete will just put up with the pain.
Other presentations included funding and club sponsorship, time management for athletes by Swimming WA coaches and a presentation from former AFL player James Begley on leadership in sport.
