THE Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) has released a revised draft Nambeelup Industrial Area District Structure Plan (DSP) for public comment.
The planning commission website said the proposed Nambeelup industrial area was a critical project for the Peel region, therefore it was important to ensure that the proposed DSP facilitated the Nambeelup industrial area was a quality industrial estate, while being responsive to local site conditions and preserving important environmental features.
The proposed business park includes about 1000 hectares of industrial land with a focus of diverse economic activity, employment growth and service delivery for the Peel region.
A previous draft of the DSP was advertised for public comment in 2012.
This revised draft DSP has been prepared in response to the public submissions received in 2012, the need to align the DSP with the proposed broader strategic planning and further advice provided by government agencies.
Given the modifications incorporated into the revised draft DSP, it is being advertised for public comment to allow key stakeholders and the general public to comment on the latest draft DSP.
Following closure of the advertising period, all comments received on the draft DSP will be analysed and considered the WAPC.
Where determined appropriate by the WAPC, the proposals contained in the DSP will be modified or refined in response to issues raised in the submissions received.
A final Nambeelup Industrial Area District Structure Plan, incorporating any appropriate modifications, will be endorsed by the WAPC.
The final DSP is expected to be presented to the WAPC for endorsement in early 2015.
