JESSICA Wade and Marshall Puzey were awarded the 2014 junior female and male players of the year for Peel Hockey on the weekend.
Wade and Puzey received the award for their outstanding achievement and commitment to hockey this season.
This year Wade represented Western Australia at the under 15’s girls indoor hockey and field/outdoor hockey championships and was a regular member of the senior Peel Ladies Rebels team.
Wade also played in the J7/8 Peel Rebel girls team that won the A grade grand final play-off and was awarded the fairest and best for the team.
Locally she played in the junior seven-11 girls’ competition with the grand final-winning Pinjarra team and was awarded the fairest and best in the division.
She also was a member of the Pinjarra senior ladies team that won the grand final.
Puzey represented WA in the under 15’s boys hockey team at the 2014 National Championships at Lark Hill where he was voted the Most Valuable Player for WA Gold in the championships.
He also made his debut for the senior men’s Rebels’ team in the Melville Toyota League – the top men’s division in WA – where he was in the starting 11 each week.
He was also awarded The Brad Fauntleroy Memorial Trophy as the Rebels rising star.
Puzey also was awarded the best and fairest for the J11/12 Peel Rebel boys team who finished third in the A-grade metropolitan competition
Both Wade and Puzey are members of the Peel Hockey umpiring program where they umpired every Monday for the J7-10/11 competition.
