A NEW South Wales man who slammed his car into an innocent woman's during a drunken crash while visiting Mandurah will remain in prison as he waits to be sentenced.
Shawn James Stock appeared in court via video link on Friday supported by family members who flew in to the state for the hearing.
Mr Stock pleaded guilty to five charges stemming from the drunken August 26 crash which left a local woman in hospital with spinal and leg injuries.
Counsel for Mr Stock argued his client was depressed and suffering reoccurring nightmares after the crash he says he still can not recall due to his intoxication.
Mr Stock blew 0.197grams when tested at the crash scene after he pushed a paramedic and refused to cooperate with officers.
Deemed a flight risk at his last court appearance given his lack of established life in WA, Magistrate Vivien Edwards expressed her concern that Mr Stock still posed that same risk should he be released.
Police again opposed Mr Stock's bail application and despite the promise of family support in WA for as long as required, Magistrate Edwards opposed bail.
Mr Stock will reappear in Mandurah Magistrates Court for sentencing on October 17.
