TWO Peel Junior Rebels teams shone in their grand finals on the weekend with both sides coming away with wins.
The seven/eight girls team defeated the top-of-the-table Lions 2-0 on Saturday at the Perth Hockey Stadium.
The team worked tirelessly in both attack and defence to keep the Lions at bay in warm conditions.
Jessica Wade and Claudia Arthurs scored the winning goals for the Rebels.
Coach Gary Adlam and manager Leanne said it was a great performance and a fitting end to a season which saw the team win the Bunbury and Narrogin Carnivals.
The nine/10 boy’s team coached by Gavin Chester and managed by Sarah Love won their B-division grand final 5-0 against Kwinana.
The Rebels were unbeaten all season but had previously drawn twice against Kwinana.
Notable players for the Rebels were Jason Dodd who scored two goals in the final. Dodd was the runner-up top goal scorer in the division and the team’s fairest and best.
Runner-up fairest and best was Tim Rogers and the coach’s award went to Zach Hyde.
The Rebels team will now be hoping their strong season in 2014 will earn them a promotion to A-division in 2015.
The J11/12 Rebels boys team were defeated by a Victoria Park side in the A-grade semi-final.
Coach Sean Griffiths was pleased with his side’s effort after finishing third in the top division.
Victoria Park will play the University of Western Australia in the grand final on Friday.
The J7/8 Rebel boys were defeated by UWA in the grand final.
The team’s coach Dave Banyard congratulated his team for their efforts in their first season in the metropolitan competition.
