It's always a good idea to get a check up, even it's for your bottle of prized wine.
And there's no better wine doctor in the west than Penfolds.
So delve deep into your cellars and uncover unique stories of some of the Penfolds wines you know, as the winemaking team host complimentary wine 'health checks' at the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Wednesday and Thursday.
The re-corking clinics are a biennial affair and the ultimate after-sales service, allowing owners of Penfolds wines aged 15 years or older the opportunity to have their treasures assessed by the crack Penfolds winemaking team.
"We are looking forward to seeing many interesting wines come through the doors," Penfolds chief winemaker Peter Gago said.
"From our flagship Grange through to the classic Koonunga Hill reds from the 1970s, each bottle has a tale to tell.
"We look forward to advising collectors about their prized collection."
Penfolds winemakers will be at the yacht club to review each bottle and, if necessary, open and visually inspect your wine, assess its quality, top up, certify, and re-cork coveted bottles.
For collectors and investors, it's the ultimate in wine service... all re-capsuled bottles are certified and signed by the winemaker before leading wine auction company Langtons values them.
Understandably, it is a nervous time for some wine collectors holding old and valuable Penfolds.
The clinics also educate customers on cellaring their wine, helping them prolong the life of their bottled treasures.
The re-corking clinics have been going since 1991 and this year were held in Beijing, Auckland and all over Australia before Gago and the team head overseas again after the Perth event to Montreal, New York and Los Angeles.
