ALTHOUGH they spend most days dusting for clues at crime scenes, four police forensic investigators are brushing off their general knowledge to raise money for Oxfam.
The Dust Monkeys - senior constable Lisa Rosenberg, first class constable Paul Dean, senior constable Dale O’Meara and senior constable Dean Chrisp - have teamed up to host a quiz night and charity auction on Saturday at Ac-cent for the charity.
The team hopes to raise more than $2500 on the night, which will be combined with the more than $1400 raised for the 100-kilometre Oxfam Trailwalker which they will take part in from October 10-12.
“I think the best thing about the charity is their ethos,” 1/C cons Dean said.
“They will put in a well in a village, so they can get water themselves.”
The Dust Monkeys are inviting teams of two to six people to take part in the event for the chance to win a prize for first or second place and bid in the auction for a range of items including a two-night stay in a luxury apartment, a three-night cottage stay near Albany, dinners for two, pamper packs, hampers, a football signed by Chris Judd and gold nuggets.
Snr constable Rosenberg said the local community had “really gotten behind the cause” with numerous businesses donating items for prizes and the auction, with the biggest donations coming from IGA Old Bridge, Woolworths Central, Water’s Edge Luxury Apartments and Camp Kennedy.
The quiz night will be from 7pm on Saturday.
