MANDUARH paintball team Torque has been growing in confidence after making the move to the professional division in the Perth Paintball League (PPL).
Dominic Hares, Lindsay Lewis, Steven Lewis, Colby Leggerini and Daniel Hares placed second at their most recent tournament in Perth, their best result to date.
The team started playing competition paintball as amateurs in the PPL as one of the youngest teams in 2011, the youngest was 12.
Torque played in the amateur division until 2013 before they were promoted to the professional ranks after finishing the season in second position.
The team is now the youngest professional paintball team in Australia.
Following the move to the professional division the team were offered a sponsorship deal from American company GI SPORTZ along with Wasp Paintball Mandurah, Wasp Paintball Perth and Hot Shots Paintball Anakie Victoria.
The team’s first tournament in the higher divisions saw them place third which they followed with a second after going down to the best professional team in Australia, STK.
Torque is planning to again compete in World Cup Asia in November after they placed 14th in 2013 against 57 teams from around the world.
They also have plans to travel to Sydney in 2015 for the Super 7’s Tournament and take part in the 2015 Paintball Asia League Series.
The Torque team train every Sunday at Wasp Paintball in Mandurah, anyone interested can come and watch the team in action.
