A LONG-TERM plan for the area stretching from the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre to the boardwalk precinct and Administration Centre has received Planning, Community Development and Sustainability Committee approval.
The Civic and Cultural Precinct Plan was designed to assist with an increase in demand for community and social infrastructure.
Ideas proposed in the plan for the area are a new multi-purpose community hub; Peel Heritage Centre; A-class art gallery; additional indoor and outdoor performance spaces and the identification of a building footprint for a complete redevelopment for the Civic and Administrative functions of the City of Mandurah.
Further enhancements of servicing infrastructure and design of road spaces surrounding the precinct area are also envisaged under the plan.
The development proposals under the plan are part of a 30-year vision for the area with work already started, like the upgraded road linkage from Mandurah Terrace, Peel Street and Ormsby Terrace, on implementing these visions.
