A 42-year-old man has faced court charged over the murder of Mandurah man Robert Dalliston.
Mr Dalliston was brutally murdered at his home in January 2009 while the subject of a child sex case.
The 69-year-old was last seen in Silver Sands about a week before officers found his body at his Ward Street home.
On Friday police arrested a 42-year-old Ernest James Mitchell after an ongoing investigation following an appeal for information last week.
Mr Mitchell appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
He was not required to plead and was remanded in custody to reappear via video on July 30.
Forensic officers returned to the Mr Dalliston's Mandurah home on Thursday to scour the property after new information into the case was received.
Police had been offering a $100,000 reward for information into Mr Dalliston's death.
It is not known whether or not that money was claimed during the investigation.
