MARK and Hilary Motzouris from Statewide Boating, who are building the Bluebird replica, visited Dumbleyung on their way home from Victoria.
There they had picked up a Formula One class speedboat, the new pride and joy for Mr Motzouris.
Their first call was to the Dumbleyung Tavern where publican Ian McCormick has a private collection of Donald Campbell memorabilia on display for everyone to see.
While in Dumbleyung the pair checked out the site where the Bluebird replica will eventually be positioned.
They visited the Old Post Office building which will become the Dumbleyung Bluebird Interpretative Centre.
It is planned to have a Donald Campbell memorabilia display and hopefully a community resource centre.
Members of the community were treated to morning tea at the Dumbleyung Bowling Club where they met the couple and quizzed Mr Motzouris about his intentions and the process involved in building the Bluebird replica.
The visit concluded with a visit to Pussycat Hill overlooking Dumbleyung Lake, once the biggest body of fresh water in the state, but full only four times in the past 100 years or so, to see where all the action had taken place.
The visitors were impressed by the size and scope of the lake bed.
It would be great to see it full of water.
It will happen again one day.
