Local students of all ages now have access to homework help at their fingertips thanks to the City of Mandurah and the Mandurah Digital Hub’s yourtutor service.
Yourtutor is a free online service where students can connect with instant, professional help as often as they like in order to understand homework questions and assignments.
The tutoring service is available 4-8pm weekdays and is suitable for primary school students through to university students.
Yourtutor is also a great practical tool for the wider community and has a range of helpful advice and tips on many topics.
Using their library card number to log on to yourtutor.com.au students are able to connect with qualified tutors for one-on-one guidance in English, maths, science and assignment research.
The service can be accessed from the library, a personal computer or tablet, and no appointments or registrations are necessary.
The tutors, a mix of certified teachers, professional tutors and Australian university graduates can review specific homework and assignment questions with the students online, using tools such as controlled chat and interactive whiteboards.
Yourtutor enables users to submit drafts to be proofread for English or humanities, get step-by-step advice to start researching an assignment they may be having trouble with and tips on how to solve homework problems in the future.
The tutors don’t tell the stduents the answers, which makes yourtutor different to other online learning tools.
Parents will also find this service invaluable, especially those who may not have the time to help their children with homework questions.
The Mandurah Digital Hub at the Mandurah Library will be holding an information session on Wednesday, April 9 from 3-6pm for interested parents, students and teachers.
A light afternoon tea will be provided.
Those interested in attending can register by contacting the Mandurah Library on 9550 3650 or manlib@mandurah.wa.gov.au or the Mandurah Digital Hub via MandurahDigitalHub@mandurah.wa.gov.au
