IT’S an event which is quickly becoming a regular on Mandurah resident’s calendars and this year's Ruck Race is coming up quicker than ever.
This is the fourth time the Rotary Club Duck Race will run and aims to raise money for Peel Homeless Youth and other Rotary local and international charity projects.
The lead beneficiary in the Peel region is youth hostel Passages.
“What I am really asking is for any corporate reading the article that is doing ok in business and has a roof over their head and rook over the head of staff to get involved and spend $50 to help young less fortunate people,” Greg Dalwood from Rotary said.
“We have 400 tickets in the race and so far we’ve sold 130 tickets.
“The corporate businesses can go online and get involved.”
Those who participate in the corporate race have the chance to win a $1000 from H&N Perry, a kayak from Kayaks 4 U, a travel voucher from Champagne Travel or a voucher from Café Coast.
As well as being able to participate in the race, businesses will have their business cards blown up and put up on the marquees and will be included in the Mandurah Mail as a race entrant in the advertisement two weeks before the event.
“Their company name will also be called out so much during the race it’s not funny,” Mr Dalwood said.
Over the past three years, the Mandurah Rotary Duck Race has raised over $110,000 for distribution to local charities and for Rotary Community Projects
This year’s beneficiary, Passages provide support to around 60-70 young people per month aged from 12-25 years who are homeless.
For those who want to help out but are not with a business, Rotary asks local residents to buy a $5 Duck Race raffle tickets from Rotary stands at Bunnings, Spud Shed and Mandjar Markets.
