A MAN has been airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) following a serious crash in South Yunderup.

It took emergency crews more than an hour and a half to free the man after the driver of the vehicle he was a passenger in lost control on a bend on South Yunderup Road.
The vehicle is understood to have been heading towards Pinjarra Road when the accident happened just before 8pm.
The injured man, who is in his 20s, became trapped in the crash with both legs pinned inside the vehicle.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said the man sustained serious injuries despite remaining conscious throughout the rescue operation.
The rescue helicopter was called in and remained on standby while fire crews from Pinjarra and Mandurah worked to free the man who had to be cut from the vehicle.
Relatives of the victim were at the scene.
Traffic into and out of South Yunderup was brought to a standstill and the road is expected to remain closed for some time into the night.
The driver, who has been taken into police custody, was not injured.
Police have begun their investigation and inquiries are continuing.
The injured man is expected to arrive at RPH shortly.
