THERE’S always something happening in Mandurah.
As if the Christmas and New Year period weren’t busy enough, Australia Day and the school holidays brought lots of people to town and we at the Mail haven’t stopped.
We’re a team member down at the moment with funny-man Andrew King off having a blast in snowy America so it’s all hands on deck.
It’s hard not to be jealous of his adventures but at least the weather is gorgeous and warm here while he’s in the middle of a city full of snow.
My editor and deputy editor were out all weekend snapping the Australia Day citizenship festivities and fun on the foreshore and we all headed into work on Monday.
While the rest of town recovered from a big Sunday, we were in the office.
It’s not all bad though.
The building is always very quiet while the sales team aren’t there.
The relaxed dress code, my fun team and the age-old tradition of getting fast food for lunch always makes coming in while everyone is at the beach bearable but this year there was an added bonus.
The bonus was in the form of a pug.
A pug in the office.
The pooch in question belongs to my pug-mad colleague Amy, who finally achieved a life-long dream last year when she got her puppy Minnie.
They’re not a big breed of dog at the best of times but as the runt of the litter, Minnie is smaller than most.
Her soft fur, smooshed face and bulgy eyes are just ridiculously adorable.
We get lots of visitors here at the Mail, with family members, babies, fur babies and ex-employees always happy to stop by.
Minnie’s journalistic skills may not be the best (although I feel she’d pursue things doggedly) but I’d have her join our team in a heart beat.
