INVESTIGATIONS are under way after a car slammed into a tree in Coodanup overnight before bursting into flames.
Police were called to the Peel Parade crash scene just after 11pm after a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Ninda Street.
When police arrived the blue Ford Falcon had smoke coming from it.
Fire crews from Mandurah were then called in to assist as the car burst into flames.
The vehicle fire was contained within half an hour.
There was no one in the car when police arrived.
It is believed the driver fled the scene on foot.
It is also alleged the vehicle was witnessed by neighbours "hooning" through the streets before the accident, but that is not confirmed.
Western Power were required at the scene to assist.
The Ford Falcon has been confirmed as not stolen by police and at this stage no injuries have been reported.
The damage bill is estimated at $15,000.
