A LOCAL boat owner is counting the cost after his 31-foot boat sank in Mariners Cove.
The 1961 Randell went down on New Year’s Eve with the task of re-floating the boat put off until Thursday afternoon.
The owner, who did not want to be named, said he had spent the past 12 months fixing up the vintage vessel which was fully insured.
At this stage it is not clear what caused the boat to sink.
A diver attached floats to the stricken boat before it was towed for assessment.
“I have no idea how this happened,” the owner said.
“I’m just glad no one was hurt.”
