A FACEBOOK page posting videos of local high school boys fighting has garnered close to 4000 ‘likes’ since going live on Monday.
The page has many up in arms with graphic footage of clearly identifiable teenagers engaged in what one concerned parent called a modern day fight club.
The videos, which show bare-knuckle dust ups between pairings of boys while crowds of children watch and cheer, are attracting plenty of attention.
One video filmed on school grounds shows a local student being king hit from behind, while another appears to leave a boy with a broken nose.
Mandurah police senior sergeant Dean Snashall said there was a group of officers investigating the video content and local schools had been contacted.
“At the moment our computer crime officers have no way of taking the page down because Facebook has its own rules and regulations about what is offensive,” snr sgt Snashall said.
“We are speaking with the schools as we don’t know whether the individuals involved are willing participants, and the demeaning, bullying nature on the videos is a concern.”
Snr Sgt Snashall said police were looking into the criminal aspects of the videos which could lead to charges being laid.
“We are concerned about the victims in the videos and we are looking to identify locations, times and dates of the fights,” he said.
“It is concerning that students are putting these videos online as they can potentially be there forever.”
A Department of Education spokeswoman said it was a local issue which needed to be dealt with by individual schools.
It is understood principals are working with police to identify participants.
