A MANDURAH woman is standing behind her claims she was kicked off a local bus because her baby was crying despite Transperth releasing a statement saying the incident never happened.
Transperth today finalised its investigation into allegations the passenger and her children were kicked off a bus in Mandurah earlier this week.
“We have carried out an incredibly thorough investigation including reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing the driver and, as much as possible, the passenger involved,” spokesperson Claire Krol said.
“The investigation has identified a number of significant inconsistencies between Casey Nelson’s recollection of the bus ride and the CCTV vision of the incident.”
In an interview with the Mandurah Mail this week Ms Nelson said she was told to get off the bus by the driver when her young child started crying.
But Transperth said other passengers on the bus at the time of the incident could not corroborate the story.
“Other passengers who were on the bus have not supported Ms Nelson’s claims,” Ms Krol said.
“Importantly the vision clearly shows Ms Nelson reaching for the bell and exiting the bus at a planned bus stop of her own volition.”
“In addition, the stop the Ms Nelson gets off the bus at is also the closest stop on that route to the Dudley Park Primary School, which we understand was her intended destination - it hardly supports a view of the passenger being ‘kicked off’.”
Ms Krol said the driver of the bus has an unblemished record and has been quite distressed by the unfounded allegations.
“The driver acknowledges that she asked Ms Nelson if she needed assistance as the child was clearly upset, but to suggest she was ‘kicked off’ is completely false,” she said.
“We have subsequently closed the investigation and no action will be taken against the driver.”
“This … incident has … resulted in a gross waste of public money and resources in completing the investigation.”
Ms Nelson said she was not happy with the investigation but had no plans to take the matter further.
She maintains she got off the bus at the foreshore and wants “nothing more” to do with the story.
