THE extortion charge against Peel Health Campus (PHC) whistleblower Ashton Foley was dropped today after prosecutors declared the matter to be no longer in the public interest.
Ms Foley, a former PHC chief operating officer, prompted a parliamentary inquiry into former hospital operators Health Solutions WA last year.
The discontinued charge related to an allegation Ms Foley demanded money from the former operators and threatened to release sensitive information unless she was paid.
But Ms Foley, who intended to fight the charge, has always claimed she only ever requested leave entitlements she was owed.
