A PINJARRA roadhouse was left in pieces today after a dual-wheel tyre from a semi-trailer came off and hit one of its bowsers.
Liberty 53 Mile Roadhouse on South West Highway has to replace a bowser and part of its building following the incident.
Station owner Richard Sheridan was inside the building when it happened.
He said it was fortunate no one was injured because a car had driven away from the station just moments before.
The bowser was most damaged and was left detached from the ground and in pieces. He said it was also structurally un-sound because it was detached from the support of the petrol station’s canopy.
“It’s lucky the pipes are all intact; had they not been it could have potentially blown up,” station manager Stephen Carter said.
The semi-trailer’s driver continued driving unaware of what had happened, before a driver who had seen what had happened flagged him down a few hundred metres from the scene, at the intersection of South West Highway and Patterson Road.
Mr Sheridan said he was hoping to have the petrol station open again by tomorrow but it would depend on insurance.
