Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward after a hit and run incident which left a man injured in Safety Bay yesterday afternoon.
According to Peel traffic officers about 4.05pm yesterday a 61-year-old Rockingham man walked out of a driveway onto the Malibu Road footpath when he was hit by a person driving a scooter.
The driver of the scooter stopped briefly before riding off.
Meanwhile the man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and will require surgery to a deep gash to his leg, said police.
Police have described the male scooter driver as being about 17 to 20 years of age, about 175 to 180cm tall with a slim build.
He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a bright coloured motorcross-style helmet.
Police believe he may have had a leg injury as he was carrying a pair of crutches on the scooter.
The scooter is believed to be a silver/grey colour.
Investigators are calling for any witnesses who may have seen the scooter prior to the crash
or the crash itself.
