HEAD to the eastern foreshore this New Year’s Eve and welcome in 2013 with free family fun, two big fireworks displays, children’s activities and entertainment galore.

With more than 20,000 people expected to join in this year’s festivities, be sure to gather the family and head down early to secure a great spot for the fireworks displays over the estuary at 9pm and midnight.
Join the countdown to the New Year while taking in the amazing talent, including local singers and musicians, on the Mirvac main stage.
With a disco/retro theme for the evening, the fun starts at 6pm with live entertainment including local Festival of New Talent (FoNT) performers, Disco Divas and Our Generation, who have played at five Leeuwin Estate concerts.
Talented acts include young Mandurah duo Sons of Saviour and 21-year-old acoustic guitarist/vocalist and winner of the 2012 Centro Mandurah FoNT compettion, Ross Lowe.
People of all ages will love the entertainment line up with music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, plus there’s plenty of space to get up and dance the night away.
After the first set of fireworks, the party continues with on-stage entertainment right through until midnight.
The kids will be kept entertained all night with the extremely popular Sector X
Youth Zone featuring a silent disco, rides, glow sticks, DJs, a chill-out zone and an art display from the Billy Dower Youth Centre’s Young Men’s and Young Women’s Programs.
To ensure the safety of patrons at this family friendly event, extra security and local police will be out in full force throughout the evening.
Police officers will be taking a no-tolerance approach to anyone consuming alcohol on the foreshore.
Mayor Paddi Creevey said the no alcohol, no smoking event was designed for the whole family – young and old – to enjoy.
“The City’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration on the foreshore is a great way for families to relax, enjoy some great entertainment and celebrate the start of a fresh new year,” she said.
“This time of the year is a chance for people to reflect, but also a time to look ahead to the future and what will be in store for Mandurah in 2013.
“The future ahead for Mandurah is bright, and the City will continue to work hard for our community to ensure Mandurah is a great place to live, work and play.
“On behalf of the City of Mandurah, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year, and I encourage everyone to head along to the fantastic celebrations on the eastern foreshore on New Year’s Eve.”
For the safety and enjoyment of attendees at the celebrations, Mandurah Terrace between Cooper Street and Pinjarra Road will be closed during the event from 5pm – 1am.
