THE Mandurah Magic women’s and men’s team both suffered big losses at the hands of the East Perth Eagles.
The women lost 92-63 while the men came crashing back down to Earth with a 113-64 loss.
The Magic women, without key player Briana Klasztorny were blown off the court in the first term, scoring just 11 points compared to the Eagles’ 28.
The second period was a much tighter affair with the Eagles adding 12 points while the Magic again added 11.
After the main break the Magic came out firing but their intensity was match by the Eagles with both sides adding 27 points.
The Magic faded in the last period which resulted in the game blowing out further.
The Magic added 14 points with the Eagles adding 25 making the final margin 29 points.
Shelly Boston top scored for the Magic with 22 points.
The Magic men’s team had one of those nights where nothing would go right.
The Eagles jumped out of the blocks early opening up an 11-point lead by the end of the first period.
The Magic were far more competitive in the second term adding 21 points compared to the Eagles’ 25 to trail by 15 at the main break.
If the game wasn’t already decided it was after the third.
The Eagles added 29 points while the Magic only managed five.
The Magic made just two shots from 23 attempts from inside and failed to hit a three from 20 attempts.
The Magic got their shooting back on target in the final period adding 24 points but were still outclassed by the Eagles who added 34.
Taylor Mullenax was one of the few shining lights for the Magic with 28 points.
The loss has seen the Magic slip from third to sixth on the ladder.
The Mandurah Magic’s men’s side will play the Geraldton Buccaneers at 8pm on May 26 at Active West Stadium; the women’s team have a bye.
