MANDURAH Police are urging local women who walk alone to be wary following a series of incidents in the past fortnight.
Senior Sergeant Chris Hoath said he is concerned about a male offender who appears to become more brazen with each incident.
The first offence happened on Monday, March 19 at about 4pm when a young man riding a black BMX pushbike approached a woman walking alone on Ormsby Terrace in Mandurah.
Police said the offender indecently assaulted the female victim before riding off.
Just a few hours later, the young man returned to the same street and targeted another woman who, like the first victim, was walking alone.
The offender verbally assaulted the woman and groped her, similar to the first incident reported.
In the third incident just last night at 6.30pm in Meadow Springs, the young man again targeted a solo female who was out jogging.
Snr-sgt Hoath said this attack was bolder than the first two.
“Last night the offender exposed himself to the victim,” he said.
“We are concerned that this attack is more brazen than the first two incidents so we are looking for community assistance in identifying this offender.
“We want anyone confronted to call 131 444 and we will be there immediately to apprehend the offender.”
Snr-sgt Hoath said the attacks were consistent with after-school hours.
Police are searching for a young male, aged between 16-20 years, slim build, tanned olive complexion, possibly Caucasian with scruffy blonde hair.
He was riding a black BMX pushbike in each offence.
Snr-sgt Hoath said he hoped women in the area would be vigilant.
“I want women in the area to be aware of what’s going on, but not be alarmed,” he said.
