Debbie Mattiske said she was driving her 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander home from work along Mandurah Terrace about 1.20am when a bigger silver/grey 4WD drifted in to her lane without indicating.
She said the vehicle slammed into the driver’s side of her car crushing the door towards her.
Ms Mattiske was then dragged along the road by the car for about five seconds.
She had her window down and recalled hearing the female passenger in the other vehicle screaming.
Ms Mattiske said she didn’t panic but was worried about the passenger and the driver in the other car.
After being dragged along for about 10m and in fear of rolling her car she eased her foot on the brake and came to a stop.
The other car continued for about 50m before stopping.
Ms Mattiske said when she saw the vehicle continue ahead of her she thought they were fleeing the scene.
It wasn’t until the car stopped ahead of her she thought they were going to help her.
She frantically began kicking her door as hard as she could to pry it open.
While she was trying to get out of her car Ms Mattiske saw the male driver and female passenger, both around 20 years old, get out and swap seats before driving off.
Ms Mattiske finally peeled her door open and got out unhurt.
She eventually got help from a fellow colleague who happened to be driving by.
Ms Mattiske rang police who told her there would be a three-hour wait before they could get there.
With police advice she drove home with the hazard lights on and her colleague following her.
First thing Sunday morning Ms Mattiske and her daughter Sarah Colbert went to the police station to report the incident.
After being reportedly “brushed off” by police Mrs Colbert decided to post the story on Facebook and other social websites to find out if anyone in the community had seen or heard anything about the incident.
Mrs Colbert said she immediately got responses and messages of support from all around Australia.
She said she didn’t care about the car or whether the driver had been drink driving but wanted him off the road.
The story had only been online for about 22 hours before a witness came forward claiming to know who the pair involved were.
Ms Mattiske took the information to the police and the matter is now in their hands.
Mrs Colbert said the responses on Facebook have been phenomenal and wanted to thank everyone for their help and well-wishes.
