A man has been charged after police investigating a number of reports of sexual offences found a DNA link between two of the alleged crimes on Sydney's north shore.
The two incidents took place in Artarmon December 2018 and Mosman in December 2021.
A police strike force was established in December to investigate a number of reported offences in the area that had a similar modus operandi.
Forensic inquiries identified a link between the two incidents using DNA analysis.
Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man at a Cremorne unit on Friday morning.
He was charged with two counts of take person intend commit serious indictable offence, two counts of sexually touch another person without consent and carry out sexual act with another without consent.
The man was refused bail to face Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
The strike force is continuing its investigations.
New technology for DNA analysis is being used by NSW Police that can identify DNA links to crimes even when the alleged offenders information is not in police databases.
In November, a man was charged over a spate of sexual assaults in Sydney's inner west and eastern suburbs in 2003 and 2004.
While his DNA was not on police databases, he was identified through a close family relative who was.
In December, Australian Federal Police announced it would use new DNA technology it said would help investigators predict the gender, ancestry, eye, and soon hair colour of potential offenders from unmatched genetic evidence found at crime scenes by scanning a reference library of ancient human populations.
