The topsy turvy nature of the A Grade division of the Peel Cricket Association saw South Mandurah go down to Warnbro Swans, Pinjarra account for White Knights Baldivis, Secret Harbour Dockers squeeze past Mandurah, Waroona breeze past Singleton Irwinians and Halls Head comforably win against Shoalwater Bay.
Warnbro's victory over the ladder leaders South Mandurah was set up by the Swan's bowling attack which continued to break through the Falcons resistance and eventually South Mandurah were all out for 112. In reply, Warnbro steadily approached the total, eventually getting there and only losing 5 wickets in the process.
Pinjarra got an 8 wicket victory over White Knights Baldivis. Jamie Lee continued his strong form for Pinjarra taking 4/4 off 6 overs and led the way for Pinjarra as they kept the Knights to 135. In reply, Pinjarra took the attack to the White Knights bowling attack with Jason Poolman making 70 not out and Pinjarra successfully chased the required runs with 16 overs to spare in a comprehensive 8 wicket victory.
The close game was between Secret Harbour Dockers and Mandurah. Mandurah got 8/208 in their 50 overs with Tom Balkwill continuing solid form with a classy 97.
Hilton Hardman steadied the Dockers ship with 67 and some solid support from the lower order enabled Secret Harbour to take a 2 wicket victory.
Waroona easily accounted for a Singleton Irwinians side who were decimated yet again with a lot of unavailabilities. The Irwinians were bowled out for 104, and Waroona chased down the total with just under 30 overs to spare. Again it was Brandon Burt getting a majority of the work done with a 35 for Waroona.
Halls Head continued their solid run of form with a 66 run win vs Shoalwater.
Michael Chappell made 72 not out to lead the way for Halls Head as they compiled 5/211 in their innings. In reply, Anthony Brokate took 4 wickets for just 21 as Shoalwater lost wickets. Only Dudley Cortland was able to put up a significant fight with a solid 56 as Shoalwater were bowled out for 145.
Stand out performances in the other grades in Round 8 of the PCA included: 132 not out off only 107 balls with 23 boundaries and three sixes from Vikas Kansra for North Baldivis in B Grade. Brad Williams took 5/36 for Secret Harbour in B Grade as did Krish Patel for Mandurah in the same game. Brodee Kitchin - Fitz took 7/59 for Hillman, also in B Grade while Craig Curtis scored a century for South Mandurah in C Grade. Rick Smith - Ince scored his second century of the season with 114 in D Grade for Warnbro whilst Rhys Carr scored a D Grade century for Hillman. In F Grade, 16 year old Riley Arrowsmith scored 91 not out for Pinjarra.
