Mayor Rhys Williams has been made to walk the plank of Mandurah's pirate ship just a few days into his second term.
There were no harrrrd feelings, it was simply a presentation organised by Mandurah Marine Rescue to celebrate their 60th year of operation.
Mandurah Marine Rescue public relations officer Paul Durkin said the event was designed to educate the public on water safety in a fun and engaging way.
"We want this to be an inaugural event and we are looking at doing this every year at the beginning of the summer season.
"It's an on-water safe summer boating display.
"We thought 'what could we do to make people in Mandurah more aware of water safety?"
The event, held on October 31, saw the beloved Mandurah pirates take Mayor Williams onto their boat, where he walked the plank and ended up in the water.
Mandurah Marine Rescue were there to save the day, showing the public how they conduct a typical rescue and pulling the Mayor to safety.
Mayor Williams took to Facebook to document his experience with both the pirates and the marine rescue.
"Not sure I was expecting this for the start of my second term.... kidnapped by local pirates, a mutiny and then forced to walk the plank," he wrote.
"Thank goodness for the Mandurah Volunteer Marine Rescue Group for being on hand to rescue me, as they've been doing in these local waters for the past 60 years."
