Caesar is a 3-year-old Shar Pei mix who had a rough start in life - but now, after being cared for at a shelter, he is ready to love and trust again and find his forever home.

Elayne from K9 Dog Rescue in Mandurah says when Caesar arrived at the shelter, he was a little nervous.

"Caesar was skin and bones when he arrived at K9," Elayne said.

"He can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, especially males - but with a nice and calm introduction he does start to open up to people.

"Once he trusts you, he is the most loving and affectionate dog who just wants to sit next to you giving you kisses."

Elayne said Caesar has tested well with cats but needs ongoing work on his socialisation with other dogs.

"At this stage he is looking for an only dog home as he has some issues sharing toys and treats with other dogs."

Caesar has responded well to training, and Elayne said he would benefit from ongoing training.

"With his breed he does have some allergies and needs his ears cleaned frequently but he is a very good boy getting his ear drops given."
