A Peel man who dreamt of winning Monday Lotto has turned that dream into reality after taking home Monday's $1 million Lotto prize.
The man, in his early 30s, who lives in Byford in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale said he'd had the dream only a few weeks ago and had been buying a Monday Lotto ticket ever since.
"I've only been playing Lotto on and off for a year and I never win anything on Monday, but I had a dream and yeah . . . I've persisted with buying Monday Lotto since that dream."
He said the first thing he would do with his winnings was buy a house and then get married.
"My fiancée and I were going to have a backyard wedding or just go to the registry office as we couldn't afford to have it at a nice venue, but now we'll splash out on one," he said.
"We'll celebrate tonight with an Italian meal and we've promised the kids a chocolate milkshake."
Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said many winners had often said they had had a feeling that they would win.
"Firstly, you have to buy a ticket - because you have to be in it to win it, and secondly, it doesn't hurt to have that niggling feeling of hope because you just never know," she said.
