The 2021 volleyball season ended with Mandurah Volleyball Association's men's team triumphant in their Division 1 league.
Meanwhile, the women's team finished an unlucky fifth having won the final game to finish fourth but, so did the team above them.
Having finished the regular season in second place, two wins behind the top team, the men progressed directly into the final with a convincing 3 sets to 0 win over top team Murdoch University.
The grand final however was much tougher, with the Mandurah men losing the first two sets. As the game progressed, they slowly began to peg back the lead, eventually winning the next two sets in convincing fashion. The last set finished on 5 points to 0 in Mandurah's favour when time ran out, the Mandurah side going on to celebrate in style.
Mandurah president Charlie Grigio said what was also pleasing from a Mandurah perspective was the large spectator contingent that travelled all the way to Warwick Stadium to witness the tough affair.
"The match was played in enthusiastic fashion by both teams, who were egged on by the rather raucous crowd of both sides," Grigio said.
