Jude Ramsay of Ravenswood is hoping that when he gets to hand out a medal on Saturday it's to Kysaiah Pickett.
"He loves him," mum, Zoe Ramsay says of the Melbourne Demon forward.
Not quite as much as he loves his favourite player, Liam Ryan, given he's an avid Eagles supporter.
"His dad's a one-eyed Eagles supporter too," Ms Ramsay said.
Jude is one of 23 lucky Western Australian kids - including Pinjarra girl, Sienna Seager - who will play a special role at the 2021 AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
Jude was also one of the AFL Auskicker of the Year nominees and was supposed to fly to Melbourne this week, but of course, things have changed now.
Turns out with the big event happening in Perth for the first time ever, Jude will be the only finalist who gets to play at the grand final half-time game - because he's in WA already.
The Mail spoke to Ms Ramsay while Jude was at Optus Stadium on Thursday doing a photo shoot and getting his uniform in preparation for the big day.
Ms Ramsay said when they took Jude to his first live game, he saw the Auskick kids and said 'I really want to do that. How do you get chosen?'
Not long after they got the call saying he was playing in round five where Collingwood took on West Coast in Perth.
While borders were still open, they then took him to Melbourne for his September birthday where he attended a training session.
Ms Ramsay says Jude lives and breathes footy - he even goes to school with Richmond Football Club midfielder Shai Bolton's niece.

"He's so excited for the grand final," Ms Ramsay said.
When he found out he was among the lucky 23, he was so excited, he "couldn't believe it".
"He asked, 'Is this for real?'"
Coming from all parts of WA, the Auskick participants will form a guard of honor at halftime as Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs run out and will gather on stage at the end of the match to present the Premiership medals to the winning team.
On Thursday, all 23 participants gathered in a training session at Optus Stadium where they got a behind-the-scenes look at what their role will involve this Saturday.
Learning from their sporting heroes, the children rubbed shoulders with some leading AFL and AFLW stars at the training session which included Patrick Cripps, Nat Fyfe, Luke Shuey, Stephen Cognilio, Ebony Antonio, and Bella Lewis.
As part of being selected to represent their centres the kids also received a NAB gift bag with lots of fun items including a uniform to wear during the half-time guard of honour as well as a journal to detail all the amazing memories from throughout the grand final week experience.
Jude has been playing footy for three years at the Pinjarra Tigers Football Club's Auskick centre.
The Weather Bureau has forecast partly cloudy but rain-free skies for the first-ever decider played in Perth.
Senior meteorologist James Ashley said Perth was in for a pleasant spring evening, with the temperature forecast for the first bounce to be about 21C - and no rain expected during the game.
