Karri House, a 20-bed extension to the Coolibah Care Residential Aged Care Facility was officially opened on September 10.
The ceremony was officiated by Assistant Minister Andrew Hastie MP, the Federal Member for Canning, who represented Senator Richard Colbeck, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services, and Minister for Sport.
The extension was built with the assistance of the Australian Government, through a building fund grant.
Coolibah Care Chair, Emeritus Professor Jo Barker AM, said "it is an achievement of a significant milestone for the Coolibah Care team, resulting in a very special dwelling for the residents who now make Karri House their home".
In addition to the extension, Coolibah took the opportunity to invest and has built a new commercial kitchen and laundry as well as other beneficial amenities for the residents and staff.
The building project was completed late August 2021, however the extension to Karri House was completed earlier in April 2021.
Since then, Coolibah has welcomed new residents into Karri House where they are enjoying the large open, light filled living spaces and landscaped sensory gardens.
Coolibah Care is a not-for-profit aged care provider and has been serving the local senior community for 52 years.
