Billy Dower Youth Centre will hold a weekend workshop of activities, food and discussions about peer support and mental health for young people who are members of the LGBTIQA+ community.
The event will be run by the Western Australian Aids Council (WAAC) in partnership with YMCA WA, who run several weekend workshops throughout the year for young people both in metropolitan and regional locations.
A representative for the event said the weekend would be an opportunity to learn and gain skills while spending time with new people.
"Weekend workshops are two days of activities, great food and more. They are a fantastic chance to learn about supporting your mental health and wellbeing and the mental health and wellbeing of your LGBTIQA+ friends, meet other young people, and spend time together in a safe space, supported by qualified staff," the representative said.
"This weekend is not only a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and have fun, but you'll walk out with new skills and knowledge around mental health and know how to access LGBTIQA+ friendly services in your area.
"You will get to participate in the safeTALK suicide alertness training and receive a certificate - it will look great on your resume."
