For the first time in Western Australia, School Sport WA is running its inaugural WA Teachers' Games which will be held right here in Mandurah.
With 23 different sports available for teachers to take part in, the event is designed to help bring education staff together in a "fun, casual, energetic way" where they can enjoy downtime with their colleagues and make useful connections.
The event is based off of the Victorian Teachers' Games which has successfully entered into its 25th year of operation.
Teachers' Games Coordinator Robyn Brierley said the event would provide staff with the opportunity to be active and potentially try new activities, which may even develop into a love of sport.
"Attendees have the opportunity to form their own teams from the same school or different schools, or they can ask to be added to a team," Ms Brierley said.
"This ensures everyone can participate and there is ample opportunity to mix with other attendees."
Leading by example is an invaluable tool.

Teachers and education staff from all over Western Australia have registered to take part in the event, with currently more than 300 people registered - from as south as Albany to as north as Marble Bar.
Ms Brierley added that entering into the games would be a way for education staff to set an example for their students by sharing their experiences with sport and a healthy lifestyle.
"Leading by example is an invaluable tool," she said.
"When attendees share their games experience with their students they can impart the benefits of healthy active lifestyles.
"We want our educators to be the best that they can be.
"By participating in the Games, we aim to boost their teaching capability and their understanding of the value of school sport. The flow on effect? Happy, healthy and resilient kids - that's a win-win."
According to Ms Brierley, one of the biggest benefits of the games would be the environment of like-minded people with similar goals in mind.
"An opportunity to mix with like-minded individuals has the potential to stimulate many discussions and sharing of ideas," she said.
"The games give teaching teams across the State a circuit breaker - a chance to play sport, connect with colleagues and get away."
The first inaugural WA Teachers' Games will take place during the October school holidays and will run from Tuesday, October 5 to Thursday, October 7 in Mandurah.
Registrations are currently still open and can be found by visiting schoolsportwa.com.au/teachers-games.
