The Mandurah Murray Vietnam & Veterans Group (MMV&VG) held the Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Day on August 18 at the Mandurah RSL instead of the Mandurah War Memorial due to inclement weather being forecast - as luck would have it the sun shone all day.
The service was attended by approximately 200 people.
The laying of wreaths was conducted before the service at the RSL Memorial Wall and accompanied by Piper Gareth Waddell.
Prayers were said for Service Men and Women, Past and Present by the Reverend David Oxley.
The Vietnam Veterans Day Address was given very confidently by Samuel McGowan and Lily Gray - Head Prefects from the Frederick Irwin Anglican School - they received a well deserved round of applause.
The MMV&VG were pleased to welcome a large contingent from the Vietnamese Community and Hien Tran gave an impassioned speech which was well received.
Bart Mavrick (MC for the day) read The Ode from "For the Fallen" by Robert Binyon with The Last Post and Rouse by bugler Tony Schraven.
MMV&VG would like to express thanks to all who attended the commemoration and to the Mandurah RSL for their valued assistance and support.
