After sharing a chief executive officer for two years, the Shire of Murray and Waroona have decided to have separate chiefs again.
The Shire of Murray president David Bolt said sharing a chief executive over the past two years had been successful.
"It has helped both organisations rapidly identify a solid pipeline of additional projects and opportunities that will be key to ensuring our Shires flourish into the future," he said.
The decision came about after the two shire councils voted to recommit their focus on a large number of major projects within each shire.
For the Shire of Murray some of the project they have made as a priority include the redevelopment the Exchange Hotel, stages two and three of the Pinjarra Heavy Haulage Deviation, the Pinjarra Revitalisation Strategy and Sir Ross McLarty future development.
In the Shire of Waroona president Mike Walmsley said the vision of two dedicated chief executive would still have a strong working relationship across both councils to deliver great outcomes for the community.
"Dean Unsworth has displayed an unmatched work ethic and is an extremely capable CEO," he said.
"Our Council has been strengthened by his leadership and the next person to fill this role will be expected to keep up the momentum and work closely with him in furthering the resource sharing agreement."
Waroona's large projects include the Town Centre Revitalisation Strategy implementation, Drakesbrook Weir redevelopment and Preston Beach Foreshore Management Plan implementation.
From a regional perspective, the Murray-Waroona-Harvey Water Security Study is being undertaken and the growth of the agri-business sector is being facilitated, especially through Western Australian Food Innovation Precinct efforts.
Mr Unsworth will continue to be the joint chief executive of the shires until there is a successful applicant for the Shire of Waroona.
